Alton Frailey Joins Stantec in Houston

With 33 years of experience as a professional educator, Alton Frailey joins Stantec as an education specialist in the firm’s Greenway Plaza location in Houston, Texas. His role will focus on educational planning, engagement, and client relations.

A classroom veteran, Alton began his career working with special needs and elementary-aged students in the Goose Creek Consolidated School District in Baytown, Texas. Throughout his career, he served as superintendent for multiple school districts, including DeSoto Independent School District near Dallas, Texas; Cincinnati Public Schools in Cincinnati, Ohio; and the nearly 74,000 student Katy Independent School District near Houston, Texas, where Alton served for nine years prior to retiring in 2016.

“I’ve worked with Stantec for nearly 20 years as a client and can confidently say I’m very excited to join this team,” said Frailey, education specialist for Stantec. “Together, we will help our client partners imagine and design quality learning facilities and environments for their students, staff, and community. The possibilities are endless.”

Frailey has held numerous professional elected leadership positions, including President of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), President of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), President of the Urban Superintendents Association of America (USAA), and Texas Association of Suburban/Mid-Urban Schools TAS-MUS). In 2015, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott appointed Frailey to the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents for a six-year term.

“Adding Alton to our team continues to strengthen our 70+ year commitment to public education in Texas,” said Tom Oehler, vice president and education sector leader for the South Central region of Stantec. “Alton has such a passion to make a difference in education, and believes, like we do at Stantec, that the learning environment can make a profound impact on the lives of students and teachers.”
