Goodwill Fort Worth Purchases Land For 24th Area Retail Store

8/23/17

Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth, Inc. announced today that the organization has purchased land to build its 24th area retail store. A 12,000 sq. ft. retail store is planned for 4700 S. Collins Street in Arlington on 2.5 acres of land. Construction will begin in August with the new store expected to open to the public in late February 2018. Reliable Construction has been selected as the general contractor for the project.

“Every retail store that Goodwill is able to open means more revenue to support our job training and placement programs for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment,” said David Cox, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth. “Revenue generated through the sale of donated goods fund programs like our job resource centers that help people get jobs.”

The nonprofit is also adding 3,000 sq. ft. to their existing retail location in Denton (2030 W. University Drive) to expand their area Job Resource Center. The expanded Job Resource Center will feature job search experts and offer free computer and internet access. In addition, job search experts will provide job placement services including one-on-one career counseling and employer networking opportunities; job readiness skills training including resume writing, interviewing skills and job search techniques training; vocational assessments to help focus job search on the most suitable and in-demand occupations; needs assessments and appropriate referrals for mental health, housing and more – all at no cost.

The $1.4 million remodel includes construction of a new production room for processing donations and an updated fascia in addition to construction of the Job Resource Center. The retail store and donation location will remain open during construction, with a planned completion of January 31, 2018. Vertical Construction Management has been selected as the general contractor for the remodel.
