Fisher Phillips announced today that three Texas attorneys have been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2018®: Michael V. Abcarian in Dallas, Stephen. J. Roppolo and Teresa S. Valderrama in Houston. Fisher Phillips is a national management-side labor and employment law firm.
Abcarian, the managing partner of the Dallas office, has been included on The Best Lawyers in America list for seven consecutive years. He has more than 40 years of experience representing management clients across the country in all phases of labor and employment law, including the defense of employers in hundreds of lawsuits before judges and juries in the federal and state courts. These have ranged from large class actions to individual plaintiff cases. Despite his active litigation docket, Abcarian has not lost a lawsuit in more than 21 years. In addition to his trial work, Abcarian frequently appears before federal agencies that enforce our country’s labor and employment laws, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, the National Labor Relations Board, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
Roppolo, the managing partner of the Houston office, is a seasoned veteran with more than 25 years of experience in labor and employment law. He has represented employers in matters of sexual harassment, discrimination, defamation, breach of employment contract and non-competition/trade secret disputes. This includes federal and state court litigation and administrative proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, United States Department of Labor, and Texas Workforce Commission.
This marks the 20th year that Valderrama, a Houston-office partner, has been honored. Over her 28-year career, Valderrama has assisted employers in all aspects of workplace law, from internal corporate investigations to courtroom defense of class actions and discrimination claims. Valderrama’s experience includes the business side of employment disputes, such as trade secret litigation and employee defections, and defense of whistleblower claims. However, Valderrama likes to say that her “best” work happens behind-the-scenes to keep her clients out of court.
