WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Ryan Bloom Named to SPEER Board of Directors

Ryan Bloom, an associate and design engineer in the Austin office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, has been appointed to the board of directors for SPEER (South Central Partnership for Energy Efficiency as a Resource).

SPEER’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of advanced building systems and energy efficient products and services in the South-central U.S. The organization’s purpose is to advance the understanding and adoption of energy efficiency as a low-cost energy resource, and to design, implement, coordinate, and support regional projects to promote high energy performance and clean distributed energy in the built environment.

“It’s an honor to be appointed a member of the SPEER board of directors,” Mr. Bloom commented. “Not only does the organization aim to accelerate the adoption of advanced building systems and energy efficient products in Texas and Oklahoma, two states that offer tremendous opportunities for increasing energy efficiency, but SPEER is part of a national network of regional organizations partnered in the pursuit of energy efficiency in a wide variety of building types.”

As a design engineer, commissioning service provider and project manager in the Austin office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Mr. Bloom has been involved in the design, commissioning and LEED documentation for a wide variety of projects, including data centers, hospitals and medical facilities, laboratories, class-A office space, mixed-use and multi-family developments. He has designed building systems for hospitals throughout Texas and across the country, delivering projects such as the LEED Gold Certified Parkland Hospital in Dallas, LEED Gold Certified Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham, the VA Hospital in Waco, and Providence Health Transmountain Campus in El Paso. .

A licensed professional engineer in Texas, Mr. Bloom received a bachelor of science degree in architectural engineering from Kansas State University. He is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and Urban Land Institute.
