Alpa Patel has joined the Houston Apartment Association (HAA) as a public affairs specialist to work with local elected officials, in particular with the office of the mayor, city council, and key City of Houston departments, to monitor and contribute to the latest legislative initiatives that affect the apartment industry on behalf of the HAA members. Patel will also coordinate HAA’s Better Government Fund meetings and support the organization’s Political Action Committee’s fundraisers and events.

Patel brings broad public affairs experience to her new position. Most recently, she worked for Council Member Jack Christie as Community Liaison. Previously, she was the Community Liaison and Planning Director for Council Member Brenda Stardig and the Director of Constituent Service for Council Member Oliver Pennington. In these roles, she fostered relationships with the media, local businesses, elected officials, community leaders, City of Houston departments, lobbyists and advocacy groups. 

Patel attended Texas A&M University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in human resource development with a minor in business administration. With a passion for public service and community outreach, she loves spending her time volunteering.
