Nominated by Family Vision Center of Porter & Crosby, Addi’s Faith Foundation selected from nearly 100 nationwide for highest charitable grant
ABB OPTICAL GROUP, one of the nation’s leading distributors of optical products, is pleased to announce that Addi’s Faith Foundation in Kingwood will receive the top $5,000 grant through the company’s third annual ABB Cares program, which recognizes and celebrates outstanding non-profit organizations throughout the country.
Nominated by Family Vision Center of Porter & Crosby, a full scope optometry group,Addi’s Faith Foundation is dedicated to ending childhood cancer and providing financial and emotional support to families struggling to care for a child with cancer.
The ABB Cares grant will help fund cancer research and offer support to families affected by cancer.
In 2007, Tony and Amber Bender, two parents who lost their own child to cancer, established Addi’s Faith Foundation and set out on a mission to fund critical childhood cancer research and provide emotional and financial support to families in need. Through various fundraising opportunities sought out, procured and maintained by the Bender family and community volunteers, Addi’s Faith Foundation has been able to donate more than $700,000 to cancer research.
“Living in Kingwood for the past nine years, I was familiar with Addi’s Faith Foundation, however it wasn’t until I attended one of their functions that I realized just how important they are,” said Robin Szabo O.D., of Family Vision Center of Porter & Crosby. “These two parents have made it their life’s work to eventually prevent others from having to live through the same loss they went through. The generous support of ABB will certainly continue this mission and impact the lives of so many families.”
The ABB Caresprogram recognizes charities that have been nominated by eye care professionals across the country for exceptional programming and community impact. Other 2016 grant recipients are: Project Wee Care in Omaha, Neb.; Bobcat Backpacks Program in Radford, Va.; All God’s People in Orland Park, Ill.; Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa; Lighthouse of Broward in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Los Alamitos Youth Center in Los Alamitos, Calif.
