Janet Bubert, whose practice area focuses on representing schools, has joined Underwood Law Firm, P.C. as a Shareholder.

Janet has represented independent school districts, charter schools, school foundations, universities and colleges in a variety of matters including employment, student discipline, policy development and open government. She has represented educational entities in federal and state courts and before the Texas Commissioner of Education. A primary focus of her school law practice is related to special education and programs for students with disabilities.

She received her J.D. (magna cum laude) from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2002 and is an honors graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from The University of Texas. She is admitted to practice in Texas and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Tarrant County Bar Association, the Texas and National School Board Associations and the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education, among others.

Janet was recognized by Thomson Reuters in Texas Monthly between 2007-2012 as a Rising Star in the area of Schools and Education Law and has been a Board Member of the Texas Association of School Boards, Council of School Attorneys since 2015. In the community, Janet serves on the Board of Directors for Mayfest Inc., is a graduate of Leadership Fort Worth and previously served as the Marketing Director for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, where her husband Dennis plays bass trombone.
