Potts Law Firm, a national leader in complex litigation, announced that 18-year veteran eminent domain attorney and former corporate counsel, Blue Rannefeld, has joined the firm.

Prior to joining Potts Law Firm, Rannefeld served as in-house counsel for several large publicly-traded corporations, where he provided strategic legal support for the purchase of approximately 330 miles of right-of-way through eminent domain. During his career, Rannefeld has been instrumental in the acquisition of tens of millions of dollars in eminent domain projects. He has litigated eminent domain matters throughout Texas, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Rannefeld's experience also includes working with the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. While leading one of the nation's largest right-of-way acquisitions, he developed and implemented compliance initiatives and conducted complex legal analysis. His prior work also includes acquiring temporary and permanent right-of-way easements by eminent domain for pipeline construction in rural and suburban areas.

"We are happy to welcome Blue Rannefeld to our firm and know that his in-depth knowledge of eminent domain law will be a tremendous asset," said William Barfield, Houston managing partner of Potts Law.

Barfield added that the firm is preparing for an increase in eminent domain cases in Texas as a result of TxDot's recent announcement of more than $70 billion in transportation projects over the next decade.

Widely recognized for his expertise, Rannefeld has served as a spokesperson for various large public corporations on eminent domain legislative and regulatory issues and is a frequent speaker at regional and state eminent domain conferences.

An experienced litigator, Rannefeld's additional career experience includes handling legal disputes involving real estate valuation, business valuation, environmental issues, land use, subdivision and lease, and oil and gas acquisition.

Rannefeld received his J.D. from Texas A&M School of Law (formerly Texas Wesleyan) and his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University. He is admitted to practice in Texas and the U.S District Court. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association.
